WP Super Cache
Donncha O Caoimh and the company, Automatic are the contributors and developers behind the open source WP Super Cache. Donncha who has been a member since 2003 is an ace plugin developer and translation contributor. Automatic was founded in 2005 and their projects include WordPress.com, Jetpack, WooCommerce, Gravatar, and Akismet.
With this plugin, static html files can be generated from dynamic WordPress sites. After the file is generated, the web server, instead of processing the WordPress PHP Scripts that are more expensive and heavy serves the static html file. The vast majority of the users will be served the static html files. They are:
- Users not logged in
- Users who haven’t viewed a post protected by a password
- Users who haven’t left any comments on a blog
Static html files are served to 99% of the visitors and a single cached file can be served multiple times. Other visitors are served custom cached files that are tailored as per their visits. Comments made after logging in are displayed and cached for the visitors.
