Frequently Asked Questions

For Reviewers

By posting a review on our website, users agree to receive emails from us in the future as specified in our website’s terms and conditions. Users may choose to opt-out of our email program by clicking the “unsubscribe” link included in these emails if they do not want to receive these notifications. For more information, please read the terms and conditions of our website.

If you have submitted a review and it is still not visible because
1. Awaiting team approval
2. Did not adhere to one or more of our reviews guidelines, or
3. Was otherwise not acceptable for publication (for example, if the review was submitted in an unsupported language).

NOTE: Reviews are disabled if we are unsure that we have correctly confirmed the reviewer’s identity in order to preserve the integrity of our reviews program. In these situations, we will contact the reviewers and ask for more details. Although there is no assurance, answering these emails and providing useful details may help our inquiry and result in the publication of your review.

We think reviews of software ought to be based on the real usage of the product. Watching a product demo is not the same as really using the product, hence we will disable any reviews that are determined to be based on watched product demos. A demo that has been viewed, however, is not treated the same way as testing a product out for free. A free trial does include getting your hands dirty. You may review a piece of software if you used it during a free trial period, but you must note this on the review form.

You can send us an email requesting an edit of your review. Only the original reviewer has the authority to guide us to alter their review, thus the request must  come from the email address used to submit the initial review. To request a review edit, any reviewer can send us an email to [email protected], explaining  which review they want to edit.

A reviewer is only permitted to write one review for the same product at a time in order to prevent one person from unduly influencing the reviews of a product. So, if  you want to write a review please make sure you write it in detail so that you won’t need to worry about missing any information you wanted.

Our Quality Assurance staff personally assesses each review that is submitted to our site to make sure that published reviews adhere to our site policies. Even though the QA teams work carefully, processing reviews can take up to 2 weeks. If it has been longer than 2 weeks since you submitted your review, you can presume that either our QA teams were unable to verify your identity or that your review did not match our requirements for publishing.

Frequently Asked Questions

For Vendors

We permit and encourage all vendors to reply to customer feedback on their profile sites in a helpful and kind manner. According to our guidelines, vendor comments to reviews must be courteous and helpful; they cannot contain information that is abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing. We consider the vendor response option to be a crucial component of our reviews program since it enables the vendor and reviewer to have a respectful and constructive conversation that aims to improve communication and provide more context and clarification

We know how unpleasant a bad review can be. As a reviews platform, we provide suppliers with a chance to clarify any misunderstandings or problems. A vendor’s response to an unfavorable user review has the potential to be advantageous for both the seller and the reviewer as well as serve as an example of excellent customer care to other software buyers.

You have the option to choose to “Send answer to reviewer” when responding to a review through your vendor portal, regardless of whether the reviewer chose to make
their details publicly available.

We frequently examine our reviews database as part of our continuous service improvement initiatives. Additionally, as we become better at vetting these reviews, we might come across old reviews that still have totally accurate information that we can now publish. The order in which these reviews appear reflects the date of their submission. We regard these older reviews the same as all other verified review submissions because verified reviews do not currently have a time stamp. They are published in the same form as when they were first submitted.
Although certain non-private info, such as name and company, might well be publicly displayed alongside a review to provide crucial context to our site users (except in cases where reviewers have chosen to submit an “anonymous” review), our site does not share the personal contact information provided by the reviewer along with a submission to any vendor.
Vendors are allowed to request reviews from their clients and provide little rewards in exchange. Additionally, TommyApps periodically sends out email campaigns that request software reviews in exchange for a cash incentive.
We have no means of knowing whether the content was provided with the reviewer’s authorization or if the original content has been altered in any way when a third party publishes a review on the reviewer’s behalf, even though no fraud may have been intended. When we discover a consumer review that was posted by a vendor, we will remove it.
Reviews are automatically sorted by using our in-house algorithm, which takes into account the review’s depth and quality, recent experience, and other variables. The “Most Helpful” position on the impartial reviews platform does not take the review’s star rating into account, and there isn’t yet a voting system that would let site visitors affect the ranking. At the site level, this default sorting method has been used for all product profiles for all vendors. Users of the site can select a different sort option, such as Most Recent or Highest Rating, by changing the default sort.
No. A reviewer certifies that their comment is an accurate depiction of their experience when they submit a review. Even if a subsequent course of action may have fixed the issue, if the review was based on a negative experience, a retired product feature, or even a misunderstanding on the reviewer’s side, it is still indicative of the user’s experience with that software. It is usual to observe a change in the type of evaluations provided as a product develops. We think that by including this history, software shoppers who visit our site will gain a better understanding of how a product has changed over time.
The processing time for reviews obtained through our vendor programs, such as Reviews as a Service, or submitted through the authorized links provided in the vendor portal is typically five business days. Processing reviews that were obtained from other sources or demanded more time for research can take up to two weeks. It is reasonable to conclude that the review was either not submitted to our program or did not meet our requirements for publishing if at least two weeks have passed since the anticipated submission date.
